About Dr. Gioules
Dr. Irene Christoforou-Gioules, Ph.D, CCC-SLP founded SPOT with TheraTalk as an expansion of her private speech therapy practice, TheraTalk, in Whitestone, Queens. SPOT with TheraTalk offers speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy to children and adults in Queens and Nassau counties, all in one convenient location.
Dr. Gioules earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. John’s University. She then went on to Columbia University, where she received a doctoral degree/Ph.D. Her extensive education has enabled her to utilize the most innovative methods to effect positive change in her patients. She has worked with hundreds of children over the past 12 years, effectively treating them for various speech and language delays and disorders, dysphagia (swallowing disorder), motor speech disorders (apraxia, dysarthria), and feeding deficits.
Over the years, SPOT with TheraTalk has grown rapidly to become one of the most respected all-in-one therapy centers in the area. The innovative therapy center now has a clinical staff of over 20 therapists, including Speech, Physical & Occupational Therapists. They work with children and adults from Whitestone, BaySide, Queens, Flushing, and College Point, New York. Dr. Irene Christoforou-Gioules serves as one of the directors of the center, along with co-director Maria Panayiotou-Mamounas, M.A., CCC-SLP.
At the Whitestone, NY location, we have 2 gyms, a fine motor writing room, and private therapy suites. Our gross motor and sensory gym is 900 square feet. It has a trampoline, tunnels, barrels, a rock climbing wall, slides, therapy balls, scooters, bolsters, crash mat, swings, ball pits, air pillows and a separate fine motor area.
